View Full Version : News Flash tBG Cleared of Shocking Crimes
Just thought I would post an update about the power situation at the last LAN. As most of you know we had 3 power outages last event which by our standards is unacceptable. All the equipment we use is up to date and saftey tested every event so we have been trying to trace the problems. One thing which we have discovered is that someone spilt beer over one of the distribution boxes. If you spill anything at the event please tell us, we dont mind people having accidents but we need to know about them so we can take the correct action to ensure saftey and fix the problem.
However, the main cause of the weekends problems were discovered today. I contacted the staff at Wildern to check if thier power management hardware had spotted anything over the weekend. It turns out that there were lots of power spikes all over the weekend and this more than likely took the power out. There have been loads of power problems all over the county and this seems to have caused lots of problems county wide. This means next event we can provide a much better power system. Sorry to everyone who was affected by this spikes at the weekend.
yay we're in the clear ! i knew it wasn't us all along ;)
very hefty spikes though in order to trip out an 128 Amp RCD :D just lucky we have so many fecking safty measures!

sun spots and magnetic fields i reckons!!!! We are currently going through a period of increased solar flare activity and the magnetic fields from this can cause power fluctuations!
/me is smart! :P

The Ozone layer above Britain to stronger than most places, the effects of magnetic stroms on us are very little, but its still possible I guess...
Yeah, we have insurances ;) Its limited so don't try and make any claims agaisn't us, it would cost you more in legal fees :D But we can cover things like lose of a limb, life etc.. your PC however, thats your own responisbility. We insurse all power cables and what not are safe as houses, so there shouldn't be a problem, other than you dropping it at the event or something :)
To amuse you, your PSU has a trip on it, as does the distrubution box it was plugged into, which in turn was plugged into a 13amp 4-way box, which also had trips on it, all the 4-ways where plugged into the 128amp 7-way box/transformer which (you gussed it) has trips, that box was plugged into the 3-phase, which had trips, and the 3-phase was connected to the schools transformers (thats got trips too) and that was connected to the local transformer station (thats got loads of trips...) and you fininly get to the power station which has got trips too :)
Now im not sure if coal has trips or not...
