Hehe.

Steam will work one day, it HAS to they've put to much into/onto it.

Not to start it again, but it really wasn't ready to be released when it was, but then it had to be released sometime, and what better way to beta test it? :)

I don't see Wedge and GC whinning to the CyberGames about not running CS, they arn't even gonna offer doing it on 1.5! ;)

That situation there is a long and complex one, that can be summed up as Valve's fault. Not a very well informed news post and you lot jumping on the bandwagon as usual. Basically it was a very poorly run tournament, eg they had LCD screens for all the computers, needless to say the pro-gamers weren't very impressed so they had to run around sourcing CRTs. It would have been good of Valve to have warned them that there was a 3MB patch going to be released though, 1200 machines = ouch on their very limited net connection which as far as I'm aware caused the termination of the planned tournament. Add to this the fact that Valve had promised to have some employees at the event and there never were any and you have a complete fuckup! At least this might speed along the release of a LAN version of steam/CS!!

I have no doubt that the situation with HL2 has put a huge amount of pressure on Valve and is the reason that Steam has not been as well supported as it should have been. I'm also confident that everything will be resolved and Valve will be restored as the great icons that we know them to be!

I was stood near Tau.. (i think) at the end of the semi and he was getting ALOT of grief off certain people who didnt agree with how the tourney was going.
If you dont like how a game is played then dont play it.
it seems 2 me tht CS suffered this the most at the last event.

People are impassioned about CS, clearly therefore it should be banned

fine point wedge.

oh, wait - for it to be a fine point it'd have to be relevant - no one suggested the cs should be stopped.

Thats becuase I don't follow CS and therefore my source are randomly posted links here and there, not the most reliable but the jist of information seems to be relitive :)

Heh, I'm no fan of CS anymore, but there is no deining its a good game, I just think people take it to far seriously and loose the "game" part. Much in the same way football and almost all over popular things have done, its all to serious, lifes far to short.

A shot to the head is serious, not being able to play a game in the perfect enviornment is a bummer, but you'll live.

This from BBC news

"The Cyber X Games were over almost as soon as they began, as technical glitches forced the cancellation of most of the professional events."

Same here, was a member of UKSF who were number of the UK Clan Base Leauge for 3 weeks :)

Now I've stopped playing it becuase it isn't fun, everytime I die I get "<1337playwhore34> Ha, Eat it gayfuck nut!" or "<12yearold> I 0wn j00!" and to be perfectly honest, I can't be arsed with it, In Natrual Selection or ET when you kill someone the replies are more on the line of "<player> !" or "<player> Oh tits, and I saw that mine" or "<player> That'll be shadow with a rifle gren then... ...again." Much friendlyer environment, also the mass usages of the Mic of in CS Drives me wild, I've got nothing agaisn't little kids playing games, but they need to respect they all have sqeeky fucking voices and sound like girls singing sopraino. arg!

Annnyway. CS good game, CSers 90% morons. Football good game, Footballers 99% morons. Popular BoyBand A good band, chance of losing all friends by admitting it 100%. Its something to do with popularity...

Ah so what you're saying is you don't like PUBLIC CS games... neither do I. Pub CS is frankly rubbish due to the clientele, but clan wars and PCWs/mixes are always great fun. Fire in the hole!

Yeah so everytime u want 2 practise u need 3 get all ur clan together to do it. Also playing on pulic servers mean that u can see other people play for a change, the same in all sports. Else ur playing style gets stagnated and so u begin to loose.

Or you could play in a mix like I did just yesterday and meet a load of new, decent players :)

ach, its like that with tribes - even though the game only has a couple of hundred people activly playing it in the uk, the state of the servers is crap - there are 2 laggy servers (60-150ping) based in germany that are the only base pubs left on which play is dire, not least because on of them only rotates one map :(

still, i can always play classic mod w/ that l33t players ;)

Hey, at least it was sorted out nice and quickly!! Nice work guys I knew you would pull off a great BigGame again :D

tuBBymAN
01-20-2004, 03:12 PM
well you could say that under health and safety guidelines of a 10 mins break for every hour of gaming the outages did us good you might even say they were enforced rest periods! lol :P

BirdofPrey
01-20-2004, 05:32 PM
