hello everybody,
im in that situation where im leaving school soon, and i dont know what the hell i want to do at college, or which college to go to for that matter. i just wanted to see what courses and recommendations people have, it would be a big help :)
I went to Barton Peveril and i really liked it. As for courses computing is far better than IT but has a fair amount of code in it. Maths is a very important one too if you want to do computer related stuff at uni.

hmm tis a bit far but certainly the best college in the area when i looked i looked at eastleigh, itchen, tauton and peter symonds and barton peveril was by far the best plus its a great atmosphere i loved going there and you will find lots of cool people to, tis how i got involved with the big game! Plus if u do computing you may get the chance to be taught by the Doc! lol many happy memories

Just try and avoid computer science, as its like the "general computing" which is bollox imho :) if you want to do electrionics, look for a computer course that mixes that in with it.
I do computer systems eng and it is very heavy electronics. Good course :)
and when you finish you can sign peoples passports so you can make extra money on the side :)

electronics is not easy by any stretch of the imagination

i would certainly recomend for A levels doing business and computing as then that gives u a good grounding as if you wanna go straight out to work at least you will have a knowledge of the business enviroment as well as your IT knowledge. There is nothing worse than a guy who knows everything but has no idea about the implications of a decision or project on the business. This is where some major companies fall down as the IT department doesn't think how it will effect the day to day running of the business.

Jynx why the hell can u sign passports? I thought it was coppers, doctors, councillers and teachers only!
Oh and ur not allowed 2 charge for it!
I am doing an Beng so I will be a qualified engineer, that is counted as a profesional. I am basing this on some information from Barclays cos they can get me a stand alone ?10,000 loan cos of it.(2% apr) ;)

ah yes but will you go further and take the exams to be a proper charterd enginneer? I'm not sure just having the degree makes you a professional tbh. Most banks will give you that loan they call it a professional development loan its incase you are silly and want to do a masters. I think for the purposes of passports most people are classed as professionals. My mum can do it and she is a Tax Assistant/Company Accountant but she has no qualifications apart from "o" levels so i think its as long as your not a criminal lol!
