has anyone seen a disc that is for cleaning the lenses for the dvd playa and the actual game lens in the ps2?

the PS2 DVD Drive is pretty standard gear, any CD/DVD Cleaning Kit will do, You can get them from pretty much all Electronics stroes and Computer stores, Alot of the Online PC Stores sell them too, like www.overclockers.co.uk - failing that, you could always go to *shudder* PC World.

yeah but make sure you buy a DVD lens one or it won't do a good job failing that get an air duster and do it

have to agree with shadow, i brough a shuttle from OCUK but it was faulty sent it back and i got a refund for 273 quid :p ...only thing was i only payed 173 for it in the first place got 100 quid profit.

Are you sure it is the lens you need to clean? If the PS2 is not reading the discs it is far more likely to be the lens alignment (very common fault on V1-4) and is easy to fix. It does envolve taking the lid off thou. I Have fixed a PS2 that wasnt reading anything with this method.

ive been having problems with mine as well, every now and then when it feels like it the game stops/doesnt load and it makes a very loud, offputting clunking sort of sound(sorry its not a very good description!), anyone know of this or a way to fix it ?

Hey..Guys...I have a massive problem on my ps2.... First of all DVD'd work on my ps2's but my games when i put them in it dont read them but after it says reading dick ..then i hear this sound like sumthing is hitting the game . Then that geos on for about 10 seconds then it says it aint a proper ps2 game ..u no that red screen. but some games such as Smackdown four it gets to the loading screen and freezes////HELP ME....wot is the problem..

I take it its out of warrantee, cant remember how long it is for sony stuff, my psx's warrantee was voided within an hour of me buying it so all the paperwork like that went in the bin.

I was told it was the Laser which is the problem///so i am getting a laser cleaner

if its reading a dvd disk its prob not the laser, as PS2 games are strored on bog standard dvd disks

BoP, just so you know there are various ways to read DVD's the way a game is read is very diffirent to the way a Video is read, so it could still be the laser, and as that is a common problem with PS2 it sounds quite likey.

Though you should notice at least something diffirent, such as the drive making more noise when spinning a DVD up, as though its likey I also doubt it - just don't dismiss it :)
