What does tbg topology look like?
I mean where are the gigabit backbones and what not?

there is actually a ~3gb backbone driving the whole thing
the topology is here: (also contained in the faq (http://www.thebiggame.org/?page=articles&article=faq)
http://thebiggame.org/images/common/topological.jpg
the central centillion switch has 2.1Gbps backplanes for each 20 port 10/100 module and a 3.2Gbps backplane linking all the modules together.
it also can do QoS, and has dual fibre oc3 connections, not that the latter is particularaly useful to us :p
She's a beauty aint she :)

Do we still need the media/hltv pc?
Surely all media could be streamed of puttys lappi, and hltv is never running as it can be an unfair advantage in games, esp tournie ones?
Can i suggest it becomes a ET/BF/DC one? or a cs on and put those on the existing cs one?
Yeah that machine is basically for streaming anything to the projector so it is needed, and Jim's lappy is still dead i think.

The lappy is dead?! That thing practically ran the BIG GAME! ;) :p
LOL, yeah you not wrong. Managed the 56k net connection many a-time. I think it needs _another_ new HDD, but i could be wrong, only Jim knows...

HLTV is delayed by about 60 secs, so I fail to see how knowing what the opposition was doing a minute in the past could cause an unfair advantage during a match... unless they're camping whores!

Lol, very novel, and oddly true
But if its only a HD and a Battry that it needs it can live on! it'll be just like my favorite army knife, 4 new blades and 3 new handles.

Here is hoping that enough folk want to play this time to get a good game going. Any doubters out there read the recent edition of PC Zone they gave some tips on gameplay.

lies, lies i tell you. Im sure the et setver was running @ bodgedlan.. just nobody bothered to play on it :( We will have the et server running for tbg (with ETpro), and i am trialing some new map packs atm if anyone wants to sugest their favourites?
On the topic of DC im looking forward to that, especialy if we can get 64 ppl :) If tbg server cant handle it, then your welcome to use ours.. hopefully a 2.4ghz p4 with a gig of ram should suffice.

Glad you'll have ETpro set up correctly, I was going to badger (MUSHROOM!) Jim into setting it up, but I'll only end up complaing because hes bound not to set it up just the way I want :p Fav maps? the orginals, Haven't played a decent custom made one yet, maybe you'll suprise me.
As for DC, oh it WILL happen, it always does, everyone jumps on, the good players do the objectives, the bad crash into things all the time and the non DCers just fly around and the like, everyones happy \o/ As for our servers handling it, heh it'll handle several 64 Player servers without batting an eye lash (if it had any).

well, the servers did okay last time running dc w/ lots of players - whether they'll run anything else at the same time is another matter though :p
