Ive had The usual "disc read error" problem happen to me twice before and now its happening again. Also the CD slide is getting jammed alot and I think the problem is the lens. I would like to know if this product from Wal Mart would be the appropriate one to buy

Wall mart?
neway that only cleans the lens, urs sounds like a cog/motor problem possibly not alinging the disk properly, does it smell like its burning or make a grinding noise when u eject the disk?
But yeah i use a similar thing, just ine uses a little fluid normally, but you dont need to use it.

Yea it makes a grinding sound when I try to eject the disc but thats not my main problem. Mainly its the disc read error crap that I always get.

Hmm may i suggest a new cd/dvd drive then, as that one sounds slightly buggered try www.ebuyer.com (http://www.ebuyer.com)
Cause thats almost guarantee to fix it, unless u use ur cds as coasters, for coke and the stick them in ur drive, then u need 2 clean ur cd's

Yea i was thinking about that but I was trying to see if i could find a way to fix it without spending alot of money. I might as well try the lens cleaner to see what happens.

If its grinding or clicking, then its fucked. you could take it apart and try and fix it but as a new CD drive cost all of ?40 bucks, it really isn't worth the hassle.
Your read errors will be related to the fact its not aliging the CD correctly.
Get a new drive :) or risk having some of your CD's fecked up.
