Good news everybody!

Due to the increased amount of video editting I'm doing at the moment I'm feeling the need for more powah. With that inmind, the logical upgrade for me seems to be a Q6600 as I already have a motherboard that supports it and a massive cooler with a ridiculous name (Thermaltake Big Typhoon :D).

I narrowly missed one on here a little while ago (damn you snacks!) so with that in mind, does anyone have one for sale, know someone who does, rather than me buying it from some random clueless ebay type?

Cheers :D

http://overclockers.co.uk do some good deals.

However, it may be more cost effective to upgrade your motherboard at the same time and get either an i5 (Quad) or an i7 (Quad w/ Hyperthreading - Octo-core) - there's a price hike for the i7, but if you're serious about rendering it's worth the money.

Not sure I quite want to spend the cash to upgrade everything, the advantage of the Q6600 is it will drop right in and overclocks to pretty close to new CPU numbers anyway.

The alternative is to get a newer Yorkfield chip like the Q9550 which is meant to overclock pretty well too.

The 6600 is probably your best bet then, it's cheap and affordable because it's on the older layout
