Overall another great weekend, definatly the highlight of the 3 lans ive been to in the last 4weeks. Lots of plus's with all records broken (atendance, projectogames and pizza), DJArcas's and Addz's set was wicked (was trapped in a game of generals at the time but ditched game sounds to listen to the set).

Game wise i was disapointed to see lots of people playing the same game but on different servers, the whole point of a lan is to have big games with real people instead of what happened a lot in ut2k4 and bfv where there was sevral games of a couple of people playing with bots. There was quite a few tbg servers as well as bfv and cod servers provided by us, however i think it was mainly counterstrike taking the majority of players away. Saturday night's big game of 1942 was great as cs was finished we got loads of players in (damn me failing to cap when we had no spawns as axis on the second map). CoD on sunday afternoon was good fun, a solid game perhaps overshadowed by the recent releases of ut2k4 and bfv, both good games, thou i dont see either of them standing the test of time without support from the mod community. An updated (recent iraq war) DesertCombat based on bfv would be nice. UT2k4 has exceded my expectations with the hugely popular onsluaght mode as well as my personal favourite Assault mode :) Shame we didnt realy get much Enemey Terittory in, however me and jynx are planning on trying to make a regular tbg online et game or something...

Horseplay in the sleeping area was a bit of a downer, people should recognise not everybody wants to stay awake the whole weekend and sleep is very important to quick reactions required for good game performance (tip of the week, stock up on sleep before any lan). As for others who have no respect for comon decency and sensbilities thats just not on, theres plenty of days in the year or at least take it outside.

Cheers to all the staff for a great weekend, particulatrly to putty the great defender of pizzas. Thanks to everyone who used our PlanB machines and I hope you enjoyed a hassle free lan, as well as everyone who was playing ut2k4 and bfv.

Looking forward to tbg14,

gump

What a LAN, even though I am biest I still think tBG 13 was quite possibliy the best one yet.

Some high notes for me were: Breaking all the records we set out to break - that was a serious amount of pizza, getting a game of STARCRAFT in, albeit one - I intend on getting more in next time! (thanks to lee for being up for it, even though he knew the odds he faced ;)), Playing some D2 Patch 10 with my good mate JimmyK (Black Demon), and us getting totaly owned by the new super hard changes Blizzard made to the game - yeah thanks , Stiring up a heated compition between Addz, Gringo and RiPPeR to beat the small track i made in track mania - I belive Addz won it in the end with a rediculous times of ~14 seconds. Making a real silly mistake in the last 10 seconds of my UT match up agaisn't Wedgeh that cost me the game (never try and take someone on that has Double Damage and Super Sheild with a Flak Gun...), Still I really enjoyed running the rest of the Torny from there on - I also loved the speed of it, Single Elimination, first to 15 frags or 15 mins. the whole thing took 1h45m unlike the CS which took an entire day :( (but then I'm not a CS fan so again biest...), Other highlights, Projector Games, DJ's new game is fantastic! oh and I won the bomberman!! :D:D:D I hold my creme egg in high praise. I shall mount it on my wall along with the rest of my throphies. UT was great too, I didn't lose a single match I played (other than that one vs wedgeh, but we don't like to talk about that ;))

Now for some lolights, Lack RTS/ET partly my fault as I was always caught up in something else when people want to play them, Forgeting my crew T-Shirt :( Being unable to finish my Pizza (tho BlackD helped out there..) and no PS2 Action - I really wanted to own on Soul Caliber. I also missed having the three porjector screens together.

Some other things worth mentioning. YDKJ was great once again, makes my sides split every time, the atomosphere was even better this time, the up lighting, DJ and Addz doing a set in the background, Projector Games, PlanB helping out, most people being well behaved oh and High Executor Jim Lord Defender of Pizza, for saving everyones pizza and taking one of the chin for us!

But the best part of the whole LAN was seeing my mates in flesh and blood again!! (oh and perving on Kate when she came to say hi to Jynx ;);) (Hi Katie!))

TBG13 was my frist BG and i have to say i was very impressed from the start. THe orginisation of the cables etc. was very impressive, although had a few seating hickups at the start but where sorted out very quickly.

Loved the huge UT matches we had going which was a good thing although there where some diviants that had started random servers instead of joing the main one. Very impressed with everything that went on Especally the set DJArcas's and Addz's did that was amazing love to get hold of the MP3 of that ;).
Good selection of games going, COD, UT2k4, BF1942/v etc.. Although im not a CS playing its always interesting to listen to them shout at one another hehe :). COD on sunday was great, love that game should have a tourny next time.
Only thing i had problems was the fact My FX gave up near the end of the event. Dont worry folks Gainward are sending me a nice new 1600[native5950] to replace my 1200.
Urm what else, Ow yes the Pizza run that was great, Kudos goes out to everyone who sorted that out and a big Awwwwwwww to Jim for taking some stick off a Towny scummer. Have to say next time should stack all the boxes up and take a piccy "Pizamid"[would clean up after of course].

Covered the gig, pizza, games, hickups urm.........

Think thats everything, urm like to thank everyone that orginised, helped and made the even FUN[especally cream egg guy]. Thank you ever so much and i'll see you at the next one. Big Brighter and Cooler then ever :)[pun intended]

Thanks again

Well what can i say , tbg 13 was in my opinion the best one yet with ease. the gameplay was great , alot of different games were played.

i was very impressed with the way the tourneys were run, they were actually on time!! (a first?) .

i was glad to see how many records were broken and a big thank you to putty for putting his eye on the line to save one of the pizzas (pat on the back for you sir)

i was also glad to see addz and djarcas's set, i was very impressed, didnt realise how well the guitar and decks went together but there we are i'd also like to thank any crew that i aint mentioned and to keep it up for tbg14.

as for Gump, sorry m8 i was guilty of some horseplay on friday night, but i did try and deflate the situation and it finally ended after about 20mins (sorry guys)

MAN I ACHE! Packing that beast up took ages! About 6 hours by my watch, finally got to bed at about 1:30. Its all in the name of a bloody good laugh though!

Cheers for the comments about that LAN guys, especially about mine and DJ's set! I enjoyed that :)

Anyways yeah i only heard about the "hourseplay" in the sleeping area on the sunday, and i tried to find out who it was but no one seemed to have any idea. Next time we are going to make sure nothing like that happens while people are sleeping. IT IS JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I will be the first to put my hands up and say, "the tourneys were a bit of a mess". All i can do is apologise for this. It was mainly due to the late start of the whole event, so the CS was pushed further and further back. This meant people were locked down to their computers/tourney and they had to play CS. We already devising away around this problem.

And your are all right we did need more BIG GAMES of stuff! May be i should have shouted at you guys more!

Thats the bad stuff out of the way...

This was the first proper time we have used the intranet and IRC to a great degree. I thought the intranet worked verywell, it allowed people to shoutout games they are playing and also keep up to date with event news. There were a few problems with it ie the UT tourney, but i felt that got sorted pretty quick and every one got on with it. And Dave, your right single elimination did rule :D It was nice to see people using the IRC aswell and shouting out games on there!

We broke LOADS of records at this LAN!!! Our final attendance was 84, the most ammount of people ever. We smashed our BIG pizza run record with 62 pizza's ordered (the teenage mutand hero turtles will be proud :D). We also raised the bar on our previous record for most ammount of people playing PG Bombermatch, total of 44 (i think). And we also pulverized the high score on PG 1942 with 44000 (the previous score was 19000 odd, we completed the game!!)

tBG a record breaking LAN hehe :) (cheers tubby)

A BIG THANKS has to go out to Wedge and DDP for helping us out with the CS tournament as we have no idea what we are doing :p. Cheers for your support guys!

And finally thanks to all you lot for coming and making it the great event that it was! Well done to U-Serve once again for winning the CS tourney, and BobNT for winning the UT2k4!

Phew, well keep you comments/suggestions coming!

glad everyone enjoyed it :)

firstly, thanks to everyone who came, and extra props to the people who came down early and helped up setup, and stayed after to help packdown.

i really enjoyed the ut tourney too - really took me back to the old school lanning,, i think we need more of it :) ta for allycat, adept and BobNT for the good games.

of course, i can't mention tourneys without commending wedge and ddp on another job well done on the cs tourney - especially since our scheduling didn't exactly make it easy for them!

well done to the winners, and to everyone who helped make this event the BIGGEST BIG GAME ever :D (especially the people who's first time it was - good to meet some of you)

i'll probably think of some more stuff later.. tata

I actually thought that the lack of organised 'big games' was one of the best things about this event. The demand dictated what people were playing not anything else... Oh and I wish to once again say I'd rather not have PG there ( bring back the dance mats ;) Or extra seats for that matter ) but that may or maybe not just me?

In terms of the CS tourney a combination of the late start of TBG, the newness of everyone to steams (now infamous) offline mode (which btw resulted in us FFM boys shuttling 3 boxes to Bob's house, plugging them into his home network, doing steam stuff and bringing them all back again) and your usual attempts to make my life difficult by requiring time to eat etc made this the toughest one to get sorted yet. That said all the matches DID get played in the end, and there were some epic contests and some usual thrashings... Userve proved their quality once more with a well deserved mention, but a special congrats to FTP who managed to beat userve in the league stage for their first ever defeat at a TBG event! I sincerely hope that the tourney was enjoyed by the 50 or so of you that took part, all I can say is I did my best...

Asides from CS, UT2k4 was the find of the weekend for me. I got my first go at it on sat night and thought it was great!! Despite having no experience I got on pretty well teaming up on onslaught and did OK on the tourney. Some great games against Rath and Shadow, both of which I was thoroughly expecting to lose were easily the most intense gaming for me since TBGs of yore. I was eventually haxed by mel.. He'd already played one on that map so he pwned me until I figured out what to do  GG nonetheless. And congrats to my good Friend Lloydy on a well deserved 15-1 win in the final :D

Also had a couple of fun games of TA with Lloydo and DDP so that made a refreshing change. Wished I'd have got a chance to play ET as I reckon it would have been a good laugh with some teamspeak servers running or something, but still that's something for next time.

Congrats to the crew for running another superlative event and the more relaxed attitude that prevailed at TBG13. Here's hoping TBG14 can live up to the precedent it set :)

Cheers for all these comments guy we really try to improve the event on all sides based on these.

Firstly I think we @ tBG owe a lot to everyone involved in creating BF:V and UT2k4. I think _finally_ having some fresh large scale LAN games was a bonus and this really helped the event along.

Bad stuff, the whole time scale of the event was a pain in the arse and losing 6 hours on the friday, for us, made things a lot lot harder and I felt actually took a lot away from the event.

General messing about and lack of respect for other gamers was a little shocking this time. Our LAN is a very social one and to see people leaving bags in walk ways and not letting people through was very disapointing. Also the reports of people messing around in the sleeping area is very dissapointing, it has that name for a reason on getting good sleep(even if it is only a few hours) really adds to the next day. Thanks for owning up dolex if you could pass the message to the others involved that would be good. In future please guys, if people are causing you problems like that, they are probably anoying everyone. Come find one of the crew and we will deal with it. Its not on.

Mess - there were certain groups of people that left huge amounts of rubish and spilages. We appreciate that the bins we full for quite a while and that was our fault but please come and get us and we can deal with it.

However there was loads of kick-ass stuff at this event. All pretty well documented above. I had some great games of UT and enjoyed the tourny too. Thanks again to PlanB and ProjectorGames for coming along, Arcas we need a final result on most players, I think I saw 44.

It was really great to see that most people were there for the full event, this really added to the whole thing so thank you.

Please keep the feedback coming.

Also we are on the look out for a new location so please email jynx@thebiggame.org if you think you know a local one.

once again sorry for the horseplay , me and 5 or 6 others were involved (i'll let them own up themselves) it was a silly pillow fight etc which went on way too long and i was suprised no one got up and basically said STFU or get out of the sleeping area but thats no exuse, when u dont see ur m8s for a long time when u finally meet up for a weekend things can go a little crazy but i'll be definatly behaving myself next event (slaps wrist)

once again a great event tho

Dont really have much to add was cool weekend really enjoyed it played far too much UT :)

sorry for setting up that 2nd UT server but the TBG server was only set to 16 players and we had 20 that i counted so it was kind of necessary even though my box couldnt handle 32 players . . . think that needs investigating :(

er shame we didnt get a game of alliegence going but its something to look at next time

cheers for organising it and count me in for the next one

Really good event guys. Got broken in quite nicely I think. ;)

Good points:
* Everyone was really friendly especially tBG crew. Good job guys.
* The monkey drumming game! ;)
* Pizza!
* Network didn't go down during any big matches. :)
* Well organized tournaments.
* Nice FTP server. ;)

Bad points:
* twats on Saturday morning in the sleeping area.
* No big Civ III games. :(
* Projector games lasted too long in my opinion, maybe if more people played it...
* Have to wait a while for the next one. :(

Another quality LAN well dun guys!!!

Good Points:
Plenty of UT2k4 games, always good for a new game to be played lots @ a LAN onslaught mode is VERY good well worth the asking price for the game.

Live set with Addz & DJ (hope i got the name rite) a very interesting Mix of Jungle/Hardcore etc with Guitar worked fantasticly.

Playing Starcraft with Shadow, cheers for the game m8, must remember tht marines don't last long against Ultralisks!! it always nice to play older games.

Bad Points (although not really bad)

LAN seemed to hinge around the CS tourney & this seemed to annoy some people who were waiting for it to finish so tht more people would join other games, these thingz can't always be helped so it NOT a really negative issue

Where was the ET & COD tourneys im sure they would have been very popular.

ps thnks to duckandcover for the help with getting BF1942 & BFV onto my machine cheers m8 :)
Keep up the good work & ill c u at the next 1 L8trs

Well here goes. It kinda mimics others comments but I am sure all feedback positive or negative helps towards the growth of the tBG LAN's.

Positive...

:D Setup... This is one of the nice things about the LAN just pitch up find your seat and plug and go. Steady eddy network and power to match.

:D Increased use of the internet and for those addicted to IRC the IRC server.

:D Pizza run... and the Don't know Jack prior to the run. Makes for a very sociable hour if I do say so.

:D Bookable seating. Although I did not book a seat and that caused problems in itself if you do have mates it is always nice to think you will get a spot next to each other.

:D Variation... Projector gaming the DJ Arcas Addz version of Power in the Park...etc

:D PlanB gaming rigs all with bodies behind them...

:D Tea and coffee facilities with Tea and coffee provided (I am assuming I was not drinking the Schools Coffee) as well as the catering facilities.

:D A lovely bunch of coconuts.. I found this to be one of the more socialable LAN's although it was smelling a bit tasty by Sunday

Negatives...

:( Lack of any large "big games" other than a few UT2004 skirmishes. This LAN more so than the last seemed very fragmented with an awfull lot of listen servers particularly CS, BF and UT variety. Not sure I have the answer tbh. I would of liked to have seen ET COD getting a hammering but each to our own. I know we had people who wanted to play just the games never got off the ground or a least not with any large numbers which is a real shame.

And in summary if you made it this far down the page...

In my humble opinion this was one of the best LAN's to date. My only gripe being the lack of big games. What games I did play I really enjoyed UT2004 being my biggest pleasant suprise. Thanks to Eaterofpies for his server and his expertise as I needed a bit of hand holding. I would also thanks Sgt-Chips for what has to be the most amazing Gibberish answer getting the middle row the ultimate glory although maybe not quite first place in the queue and MDK for demonstrating why I still have yet to overclock my PC.
