For the last couple of years i have been using a small via C7 setup which is great however flash utube/video brings the poor things to its knees
shame it doesnt have a PCi-E to put a gfx card otherwise it would be fine :(
been looking into mini itx systems not just atoms/Ions but something with a little more muscle for longevity.
seeming that AMD AM2/3 is going to be one of the cheaper optoins which should do all i need seeing as the intel options are more wedge
nyone built one recently?

My little ITX box just seems to have died, originally my carputer (http://thebiggame.org/forum/showthread.php?t=108) it's spent the last few years as a router for the house - doesn't seem to boot off anything any more :(
As for a newer box, not sure - I note that a lot of the small systems are available with full fat processors - something I'd be tempted by but if you really want power why not go for a quiet full desktop? Cheaper to upgrade at least..?

its more about saving space, i have seen the smaller systems using fuller phat cpu's and these do appeal tho choice is limited, im watching a couple of low lower athlon 2's on the bay so if i snaffle a bargain i prolly give then as whirl.
i blame pies for getting me interested in "just enuff and low power" stuff.

looks interesting not a full phat cpu but the next stage for integrated stuff

This is a good site, I have a couple of itx machines.
One being a Via chip based system running my home server and the Jetway media centre listed in that link connected to my TV.
I am planning on upgrading my desktop to a ITX system soon the new sandybridge chips looking pretty good for ITX.

Good news is that it was just the RAM in my ITX box. New DDR(1) and we're back up and running - it's 600Mhz C3 processor is certainly a bit more peppy than the WRT54G router which struggled to keep up with our ADSL2.
I've now switched to pfSense as well, so will hopefully get some IPv6 tunneling going on soon.. Should be interesting!

soo, brought a micro atx board to go along with the athlon 4050 which i snagged off ebay.
next up is a case, been looking at the silverstone sugo range as these look like they will fit the bill, finding reasonably priced alternatives is proving interesting,
Antec's aria would be ideal but they need a none generic psu :(
