So... what new games have people been playing recently that they just think are so friggin good the news of them must simply be spread far and wide!?

Here are my recent purchases ordered with my favourite at the top;

1. SpellForce
2. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
3. Railroad Tycoon 3
4. Chaos Legion
5. Worms 3D

All of these are so godamn good that i've been playing them quite literally non-stop since I bought them. I strongly advise purchasing SpellForce which is a kind of hybrid of Warcraft 3 and Dungeon Siege and is so bloody huge a game that even though i've been doing it for going on three weeks now I am still not even halfway through yet! These will undoubtedly be available for your "acquiring" at tBG if you ask me nicely, but they honestly do deserve your money if you have any to part with.

haven't purchased any but have been playing DC 0.5 also practising the old ET skills should they be reqiured and i'm sure they will.

Must say am very interested to hear of a new RTT the last one wasn't bad but u needed the expansion pack. Would be interested to hear what u reckon of it.

Railroad Tycoon 3 is awesome. So much fun to watch your trains haul oil in the middle of the mexican desert or seeing the "Red Devil" go speeding along it's scenic route and the like :) And what stunning graphics! I find myself playing in sandbox mode where you don't have to worry about money at all quite a lot as there is something very relaxing about watching the steam trains go by. But you do get electric and diesel later on in the game too which is pretty cool, I still prefer the old steam ones though. If it tickles your fancy, you can grab it off me in Jan or something but it is very very good.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic - as BirdofPrey, it stole my life until I completed it, great game :)

Railroad Tycoon 3 - Had this 4 weeks before its offical release date, nothing was diffirent when they finaily released it (something to do with a marketing cock up or something...) - GREAT game, and the graphics with it do indeed rock, oh and its MULITPLAYER or LAN :D so I will be up for a nice 5am game whilst most poeple sleep or watch films, nice and relaxing game.

Need For Speed Underground - I've never been a racer fan but this game is totaly diffirent from the rest, and its really good fun, the graphics are awsome - its the first game (correctly) use real map reflections (ie: the cars reflect the world and the world reflects the cars and its self) It also has some amazing pixel shader effects (but I guess to take full advantage of that you need a XT card, like mine :rolleyes:)

ET - Of course, gotta keep that skill up.

Currently getting X2 (think super good looking Elite and you get the idea)

Have actually started playing Staropia again, such a great game, nice and relaxing and the bio deck is just so cool.

Have been playing NFS:Underground for 3 days and its now completed. Great game.....til you finish it, then your like "What the hell do i do now" no special cars or extra features :(

ET = Best LAN game avaliable atm (Yes even slightly better that BF/DC, you wanna know why?? PLAY IT)

I have also complete Call of Duty recently and I have to say its great. I havent tried the multiplayer yet but that also looks like it could be a LAN classic.

It is intresting :P can't belive you missed X, or Xtension (the extasion pack duh!), as for dues ex 2, save the HD space, they've taken a good game and made it console friendly... now just think what that does to the "total interactive enviornment".

have had a look at RTT3 and omg!!! i nearly fell over in supprise!! it looks amazing absolutely amazing must get that did find a nice vid that displayed the liks but lost it but just google it and it will come up. Can't say how good that game looks enough! and multiplayer!! the geniuses count me in for a game!!

Well ive played CoD which is a great SP game - not sure about MP but think MOH stylee so maybe abit out dated now.

Also XIII MP is just so weird and fun it has to be played. Cartoon DM/TDM/CTF/etc is just cool. Give it a try and im sure you'll be impressed.

I also have Savage which is basically a retail version of Natural selection but its creatures and not aliens/marines. The commander plays more of an RTS role though as he can produce grunts who are AI chars so when your told to go into battle your team consists of your mates and AI chars. Purly MP would love to try and get this played @ the lan sometime just so i can see it work. Especially with someone like shadow or blackdemon in the commander seat.

Worms 3d is also a firm favourite of mine

I've played the railroad tycoon 3 demo and enjoyed it quite a lot... probably buy to full game soonish depending on finances...

Max Payne 2 was a bit of self-indulgence by the programmers, but you can't really blame them for that it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience nonetheless.

My favourite recent game has to be Call of Duty though, I'm looking forward to giving it a go multiplayer I've heard good things about it though I wonder how good it really can be.

On another note I've avoided joining the Galaxies revolution, everyone seems to be getting very addicted and talking about it all the time so I'm doing my damndest to stay away. I've never allowed myself to indulge in MMORPG because I need my time and money thanks :) Oh and I just saw the doom3 trailer, was hardly HL2 but bound to be a fun romp nonetheless. Wonder if it'll have any moments scarier than having a flaming facehugger attach itself to the inside of your screen. Those bastards scared the beejesus out of me!

I'm well up for trying out that Savage game and see waht it's like. As for everything else, well I think this Big Game will be non-stop gaming as there's loads of new ones people want to try out! There's nothing quite like standing up and shouting across the room at someone who just shot you in the face or just destroyed your entire base and is looking very content with themselves :)

Heh. "Galaxies revolution" hardly, it's not even a scratch on EverQuest or UO. Nevetheless it is one of them games that takes your life from you, and your wallet. Can't say the idea of playing in the SW universe on a large scale any fun, I'm more of a elves and dragons kinda guy. Hence why im waiting for Lineage 2 (I was going to wait for War3, but its looking just like a EQ clone)

Savage, quite fun would be good on a LAN, but I couldn't get into it, it was highly repetitive, and not like a CS or NS way, it acttually felt you HAD to do this you HAD to do that to win, like there was only 1 way to do it.

I have heard some bad things about Star Wars Galaxies from people I know who beta tested it. The next MMORPG i'm going to buy will be Horizons. It's looking to be the most awesome one yet, even though it's surprisingly relatively unheard of! Check it out at http://www.istaria.com/index.php?menu=1 and expecially amazing are the videos and the sheer complexity with which you can enhance your character. You can even build your own buildings to make a home or workshop, or even a castle or fortress! I think it's out very soon and am looking forward to playing it over christmas with any luck.

Now Lineage 2, thats a game :) http://www.lineage2.com/gallery/screen_shot5.html mmmmmmmmmmmm :D and its got SEIGE WARFARE! :D Ie: clans/guides or whatever can OWN castles and such, and wage war of other clans and the like with seige weapons and stuff.

Oh also if you though the vids to Horizons looked good, just take a peek at the ones of Lineage 2 :)

Just so you know, Lineage is the largest MMPORPG around (larger than EQ and UO) as its played by the japs and the koeras. Last year Lineage came open to the world and Lineage 2 its avaliable for everyone \o/.

I also love the style of Lineage 2, they pictate things how view them, and the elfs look sooooooo sexy ;)

This means that it already has a great mythology and race base and ergo should be (fingers crossed) good. But then again Games Workshop computer games often suck, but they bought a developer to make it for them so!!!

Hmm the last game i brought was Warcraft 3 quality game.. not played it 4 ages due to fact i was getting peeved at the amount of abuse u get if u fuck up in a team game and being whooped by a 12 yr old JOY :)
Also my pc is not up to the standard of the more recent games..... "sniff"

I have spent alot of time playing NFS Underground and it is a good laugh needs more depth though

A quick glance at what's lying around the house when I return from uni suggests that I'll be recieving RT3 for chrimbo. As it says on my amazon wishlist entry 'mmm trains'!

I also bought my girlfriend Spellforce for christmas. It's apparent blend of RPG and RTS will hopefully branch out her tastes in games. I'll have her playing CS yet :D

I recently went to a LAN and we played BF1942 and DC a LOT and also lots of CoD. However be warned all those ppl thinking of installing CoD at the event. It has lots of issues with nvidia and othe cards. Make sure it works before you go :p Hopefully Galactic Conquest 0.2 will be released before TBH as I really want to give it a go. Check out Battlefield interstate, a mod for BF1942 as it looks so much fun. As for them thinking games I highly reccommend Natural Selection and Enemy Territory (which is free). These games are so indepth and are really engrossing.

Using 3.10 on my Rad9800XT I can finally run CoD with very few problems \o/ but 3.10s seem a little slower :( Still they work! shame they don't fix any problems with NFS:U and VPU Recovery :(

Bring on the Natural Selection!! People simply have to try this to believe it. It is my game of the year by far and what's more it's a free HL Mod!! "Yippee!" i hear you all cry. :) I wanna get a few games of this going at tBG for sure, and we had a few smaller games last time. Only thing is, it's advisable to try it online b4 the event as it can be rather overwhelming at first because it is quite a bit different from most FPS as there is some overhead, base-building type stuff involved as well. Give it a crack people!

Oh I should point out www.empiresmod.com (http://www.empiresmod.com) a battlefeild mode that could be summed up as BattleZone meets BattleField (or a furtristic Savage). Its an awsome mod, a little unstable at the moment, but I can't get enough of it :) - Only thing I wish was that building was done on a grid based system so you could build walls and things perfectly - no game has yet mixed that. the perfect layout of grid based construction (ala things like Warcraft/C&C:RA2 etc) and the streamlineness of a non grid based battle feild (ala C&C:Generals and others), and on top of all that, On an epic MPer scale like Battlefield.

Guess I'll have to keep on dreaming.

Just been playing Call Of Duty (look Im not to lazy to type the whole name !) and i think its the best single player I've ever done the atmosphere of war going off all around you is very exilihrating although its hard to hear what you are being commanded to do. Adds to the realism i guess, plus exellent shell shock when you stand to near something that has just been blown up ( screen goes fuzzy and you cant hear much).

Been doing Simpsons hit and run wich is a bit of a laugh if a little repetative.

Enemy Territory and my old Fav Age of Empires Conq's which I have a feeling I will be unbeatable at the next LAN on any takers???
