Just to say. Good job on the event guys. Really enjoyed it. Few problems with my system and heat. Gonna get that sorted before the next event :) Bloody GFX cards. Shame not many records were broken.
I ended up having to leave early simply because of feeling ill. And missed that UT 5v5 tourney :( Oh well...
..ROLL ON tBG 15!

Well we're all still at the event packing up but this thread is up on the projector and we are all waiting to see what you all thought of the event?
And there was a record this time - the most networking problems at a BIG GAME ever!
Again, cheers for coming to everyone, and we hope to see you at the next one (you even know when it is* ;))
P.S. the power was good though wasnt it ;)

IT WAS Rubbish....Just kidding
Really enjoyed it, even with the stinking hot weather.
I think because Steam was knackered for me that I and others managed to get servers full with games other than CS.
I particularly liked onslaught was not fussed with deathmatch UT04 but Call of Duty did it for me especially as a few newbies got in the action and they actually seemed to enjoy it even sounding a bit suprised that the multiplayer game even existed or was so cool.
I would like to officially apologies to my Allied mates in ET for all the accidental airstrikes (oops) but the planes sometimes get lost and the strikes come down late... honest guv.
Thanks to Mr Pies again for sorting out my UT04 bizzare disspearing textures although it did reappear again for my DM with Shadow (Told Shads that had my graphics been up to scratch I would of walked it) and Snacks for entertaining with his string of disasters... Thumbs up to the guy who loaned me his headphones when I left my at home CHEERS :D
Had a bright idea when you mentioned this was on the projector for the next event. Use HLSW to display all active games on the big screen it just might encouraged people to dip into other games if they thought one was running. It is dynamic and not so fiddly as ASE...
Till the next LAN

It rocked! I was only there for Saturday night, but that was enough (no PC for me this time)
Many thanks go to:
Addz for having the best hair in the world and being so darn nice and friendly
Jim for not saying hi (it's ok, you didn't see me)
DjArcas for the "ch00ns"
Izz for the eye-candy
Shanksie for watching n0rty stuff in the corner and letting me watch too(women count as 2 do they? ;) )
GN for being ginger and losing his hat on the way to Sainsburys
My munkeh for being munkeh!
Dominoes for win pizza
Anyone else who I've forgotten!

Possibly even better than TBG 13 assuming you didnt want to do anything with steam at all ever.
So first off the good stuff
-BIG FANS
-Got in so much more gaming than at any lan in recent history so much so i didnt have time to leech :-o
-COD was great tho im not
-There was a net connection
-UT Team tourney (who won this in the end?)
-plenty of game servers running for different games tho i only played COD and UT i think
-played UT invasion and it was far too intense
-full servers possibly due to knackered steam . . . have to do that one again ;)
the not so good but not really bad stuff
-need some kind of external web proxy to make net connection useful. Stupid government rules! all the ones i could find were being blocked :(
-my server appears to have crashed for the 1st time ever :-/
the bad stuff
-i got so involved in playing COD i couldnt drag myself away to go listern to addz + arcas :(
over all pretty damn good and quite possibly the most fun ive had at a lan for a very long time also pretty impressed at just how hard the crew were working to try and get steam up oh and cheers to the planb and crew teams for beating us in the ut 5v5 tourney as i wouldnt have left on time otherwise :)
i guess ill see you all at the next one when hopefully it wont be quite so rediculously hot

FFM won the UT 5v5 with STD second and planB 3rd whooo! lol had some good fun and only played battlefiled once lol
good job crew see ya all at tBG 15 and down teh pub! :D

Really good event shame me and euphoria came second in the CS tourney :( get some prizes for second place! :P
Shame about the internet not working I know it pissed a few people off but not me so much as steam was working for me...
The thing that got on my nerves the most was the fans - we couldnt here a thing. I thought air con would be silent/quite as on lots of games / movies it was hard to hear what was goin on.
Still good event, c u 17th December :P

Which would you of prefered, 45degree heat and ergo pc crashes, or some noise, which whilst playing was unhearable!
Neway was a great event once more, hope christmas lannage gets even better!

We did want proper aircon, but when the aircon engineer quoted us ?1500 for a system that would cope with the room alone (not taking into account the computers in it) we told him to politely go away. Fans were the obvious choice... yes they were noisy, but that room would have been truly unbearable without them! I think we made the right choice.

Oh man, I am so freaking embarrased :P
I think next LAN, I shall get a huge box with a lock on it, so I can keep my sleeping bag in there, so it won't get stolen *Cough* Sc4mpi *Cough*
Oh well, all the more fun :D I'm gonna be famous or something, infamous, laughed at alot :D
Good points:
* Internet for MSN messenger, vent, etc.
* More games going on than last time.
* Crew were friendly.
* Big ol' fans.
* Meeting Tau! \o/
* CS tournament and UT2k4 tournament were organized quickly.
Bad points:
* I was ill.
* Steam.
* The big ol' fans being loud.
* Being hot.
* Me and Tau not playing Ocarina of Time because of illness and projector games sitting there for the whole event doing very little. =/ I'm yet to be convinced...
* Waking up sweaty and finding Fenna on me.
Okay, that last one was a lie. =P
gg all.

was great, managed not to get my eyebrows shaved off ;) watched and laffed like hell at the Human Buckaroo (gotto upload that), and won the cs :D I could use my memory, and think of some badpoints, maybe a tBG security force to keep LAN pranks to a minimum but i cba, and what i've listed was enuf to make it good LAN, so good job xD

Hi,
Good LAN all, was muchos fun (apart from Jynx's last minute fluky goal that knocked us out of the UT tourny :p ).
Well done with the power and general networking. The steam wasnt your fault (its steams for being unflexible and shit and a crappy school router)
The fans were great - sooooooo cool
And good job everyone who played Alien Swarm - damn that game is hard
1 point - Get addz or someone to announce games going on and to get people in them, its hard to keep track who is playing what, as ASE can be a bit finiky
Great stuff

I didn't really mind about the human buckaroo, I keep watching the video LMFAO, but I like to think to my self "That poor bastard, wonder who he is" *looks around* A good LAN Prank is good. But there are some that can get a little out of hand "Rubbing shit into someones face" for example would be Out of order. Good job btw. can't believe I can stack that much on my head/back.
*Is now scared of how far the video will spread round the net*
I can imagine in a month typing "Moron gets Buckaroo'd" into Kazaa, and getting some results, lol.

Bad
- hot!!!

- Lack of serious Sam 2 (addz have u still got my CD?)

Great event once again guys have to say it was better then the last one due to Steam, my cunning plan finally paid off mwuhahahahahaha. Got so much more OCD in this time which was good, thanks to welshbloke for some great COD matches and some good ownage stints in LMS.
In the same format as everyone else just to look normal
Good bits
- Lots of UT and COD
- Internet connection
- Big ass fans
- Addz & DJ's set
- MicroMachins, fall down and other projecter games :)
Not so good bits
- Vent server didn't work :(
- Well hot even with big ass fans
Well thats about it thoroughly enjoyed myself and managed not to kill any hardware this time :) which is a bonus. Machine worked well not affected in anyway by the heat no complaining from my end lol you people with problems should sort your cooling out lol hehe i think Addz can join in with this one lol.
Well Im looking forward to the next event and hope to cya all soon :)

Thanks for all the great comments guys, its really cool to see you all had a quality time. Personally this event was HELL for me, I HATE STEAM SO MUCH!! But saying that, once we got the cracked stuff going it was all good! Thats when the event started looking up for me, ie i could actually sit down :D
I had a some great games of UT, i really like that game now :)
I really enjoyed doing the set this time, was a nice break for me (Cheers Arcas for bringing all your kit again) Im still not used to playing along to happy hardcore :P blagging is the key i guess hehe

It a shame i missed tBG 14, as the date for the next event has been announced it has gone into the diary :D
How did the net connection work... i know that most LEA's filtering policies are really tight which can be a pain if u trying to do stuff: Ie play games DL warez, stream media etc... gotta protect the kids from the the nasty stuff on the web.
Is there a MP3 of Addz & Arcas's live set for tBG as the last 1 was cool.

Another quality event!!!! It gets better everytime!!
I'm a regular attendee now (or at least i like to think i am) of TBG and the Landed series of LAN's.
If i was to put the two events up alongside each other and tell you which was best, it would be a very tough one. But TBG quite clearleh kicks/rox/spits-on the ASS of Landed none the less!!!! :p
Landed has a minimium of 100+ players guaranteed. Ok, so TBG only has 80 max, but it is a total world away from landed, and landed has NOTHING on THE BIG GAME. As i see it, what decides the best LAN event is the type of people attending and crew. I think we all play vital parts in how TBG runs, the crew are superb fun and willing to help you with your issues. They are decent caring people who DO GIVE A SHIT if your PC works or not, and that you are able to have fun witht he rest of us. The players are also great fun to meet. Everybody gets up and speaks to everybody which is great. We're all accessible, i.e: no daft-ass stages between us and we have LOS to each other to wave blasphemy acxross the room <==== superb! And as i think the crew have said time and time again, TBG is not only about sitting in front of the computer typing to someone through it, but also walking around speaking to each other chilling out and enjoying it!!!
So many different games are played at TBG which is a bonus, everybody joins in and has fun regardless of their abilities. Tournament organisation is spot-on between the crew and their accomplices, and........... and.......
.....AND I CANT PRAISE THE EVENT ENOUGH. :D
Good Points:
-Lots of Different games played
-Lots of people playing as opposed to leeching 99% of the time
-The fans were much needed! nice one!
-Internet Connection
-The CREW for just being fab and there 24/3
Lesser Good Points (aka bad points):
-The NOISE. Now, the fans were EXCELLENT, apart from the noise. For me, the fans noise were enough, but when the music starts getting played....... well. I had a fan next to my ear, i was nice and cool, but the speakers were not 2 metres away from me either,a nd boy did they carry alot of bass! When im trying to use sound to my advantage, it becomes a constant and needless battle with the music and fans. Just be weary of the volume possibly, thats all.
-SHOWERS? for the past 4 events now i've been questioning this. I was under the impression that they were in the direction of the changing rooms next to the downstairs toilet? I had a walk about this time, and yes i saw some, with a load of scaffolding against them or on the floor. Did i want tetnus? did i bo**ocks! Then i thought 'oh, they must mean the swimming pool ones'. which are still under renovation, fair enuff. But was there showers? Could we perhaps have a detailed map of how to get there as i had great difficulty finding them, and i got angry.
-MUPPETS! yes we had a net connection. between 80 people, it wasnt too much of a brillaint one, but we had it for our msn and casual web browsing. At least that was the idea. HOWEVER, this was too often hampered by the 'ignoraneous-dumbass-cockus'. Commonly known as 'bandwidth whore with no thought for others'. I shall name one abuser, his name was Adept. surprise! :D Now come on, if you want music to listen to, please get it before the event instead of causing dis-pleasure for the rest of us trying to view/use basic webpages and IM applications. There is no need! Also, people trying to access off-LAN voice servers. Please think about what your doing. You could argue that we dont attend to view webpages etc. Well thats true. But the connection was there to offer some of us the vital option of contacting others which is of legit use.
All in all, you just cant beat TBG.
thankyou crew!!!!!
Good review munkeh, thanks.
The showers are avaliable and yes we will get you a map for next event :)
Also the net connection shall be more shielded next time as it was a bit hashed this time.
Noise is something we need to address but hopefully fan noise shouldnt be such a problem at the next event.
Thank you for the conparason to Lanned but as you probably know we dont want to be like them and its great when people notice or 'style'.
Thanks again to everyone who has given feedback because We cant make the BIG GAME better without your help :)

Cheers for the feedback, we see the event from a different perspective to you guys, so its really helpful to see how the event went for you (after all, thats the perspective that matters) - we're also glad that people seem to have enjoyed it on the whole :)
Re the net connection - that was one of the disastrous problems of tBG14, but, we've learnt from our (now glaringly obvious) mistake and will have it setup properly for next time.
When we get it right, it should prevent people from attempting any bandwidth whoring (apart from on steam) while allowing speedy web page access.
..Full pics will be up soon too.

Munkeh needs a detailed map? hahahaah
Also I think Landed couldn't even touch TBG in the whole scheme of things. Landed to me seems unfriendly, no-one knows anyone else and people don't seem to talk to others. The crew fence themselves off from everyone else and insist on being the most unhelpful people ever. This is in contrast to thebiggame where addz actually recognises that I'm the one who has a dodgy network cable every single time!
The only thing about thebiggame is the lack of mass orgies of BF games. Even if it was just an announced game at certain times we could have battles reminiscent of the BF1942 tourney in Jan. Now that'd be good :)
Oh, and next time will we get access to the swimming pool? ;)
