Well as you may or may not have noticed you can choose how you view the forums. you can view them in a Linear style, (all the posts listed one after another - defualt, like old forums) a Threaded view, like Slashdots comment system or a Hybrid which as the name suggets is a bit of both..

There is also another feature that you haven't seen and thats the quick reply feature, which allows you to make a reply to a post without having to click a reply to post button (the form to reply in is already on the page)

The problem? quick reply messes the Threaded view up, as for a theaded view to work it needs to know what post you are replying to, this is why quick reply is currently disable. However I was thinking to my self, is quick reply a more useful featue than several views?

I don't know the answer, or at least I don't know my answer is the right one, so I'm asking you.

What view do you use? and would you want a quick reply feature?

Personaly I HATE threaded, Makes my brain on if funny knotes and when you start talking about comment deepth and thresholds I like wtf? its a bunch of comments! :)

Looks like the all the regulars seem to use linear, so I think its only fair to use that, everyones has had a week and a bit to choose now. I'll disable the ability to use Threaded, and Enable Quick Reply. :)

The quick reply feature rocks for 56k use, 3rd of the time to post. Good move Shadow.

so what did we lose by adding this rather useful feature?

The ability to view the forums like SlashDot, ie: Threaded, with a list of titles that have sub lists for replys to that particular post, so it forms a 'tree' design, or more commonly known as a threaded view :) and the Hybreed version that shows the Threaded Tree but displays the normal post after post view.

I like the quick reply, but how does the "Quote Message in Reply?" work as your not actually replying to any particular post?
