lol,

I have to agree the film is bloody good, but if you say the first film bored you then maybe this isn't for you, let allone the second film. I personaly think the film was awsome, but I will resist saying why as it'll spoil it for everyone else.

I'm beginning to question tubbyman's taste in movies...He hates LOTR, loved the Matrix Revolutions and has told me that his favorite Bond film is Die Another Day...which is questionable to say the least. What next? His favorite film is Legally Blonde 2?!? :(

I hate crowded cinemas so am going to wait till after Xmas to see it, and I get to see it for free anyways. :D

the cinema was actually only averagely busy - usually i go to the cinema @ 11-12pm (as addz will attest) where you get the whole cinema to yourself, on the first day of release we still got a whole row to ourselves.

sayig that, comfortable seating or not, 3+ hours does hurt!

Yeah, I saw the film Wednesday evening

I really enjoyed it, although I think some bits of the ending were a bit corny... and I'm still not sure whats going on between Sam and Frodo :/

well, when LOTR is used as discussion at uni's and stuff its often debated wether sam was ment to be gay or not.....

Tolkien based alot of the book on things which were going on in real life, like the orcs representing germans and gandalf and the hobbits liked smoking weed to chill out n stuff. its all highly interesting......

Just like to say that I saw the film tonight and I liked it imensly. I think Jackson has done a great job converting from the beloved text to film and all credit to him.

Roll on Hitch Hiker's Movie :)

lol, There has already been a BBC audio book, and TV series, but a modern movie of it could be great, IF they could get some decent actors for it and succed in pulling off the humour. which would be bloody hard to do..

Hitch Hikers movie would be great i didn't even know they were making one. I know that the red dwarf movie is in pre-production and i'm looking forward to that

There has been a rumour about a Hitch-hiker movie for years, and I'm pretty sure that a Red Dwarf movie has allegedly been in pre-production for years...I wouldn't put too much money on them seeing the light of day any time soon.

The truth is they made the Red Dwarf movie. Then realised they didnt like it so they are makiing it again so we cant expect it soon. God damn smegheads.

at least we can still look foward to more family guy - yes, films come and go, but family guy is constant.

I just wish I'd read the books after I'd seen the films.... much as reading the masterpieces of novella that are jurassic park and the lost world would have made the films totally suck (well the lost world did anyway!) the films inevitably come of worse. That said the film was still very good and I'm glad made the marathon effort :)

I know this is an old thread, but I read something yesterday that I had never thought of before about LOTR.

Don't read if you dunno how it ends, btw.

If the eagles can rescue Sam and Frodo from Mount Doom....why couldn't Gandalf and co. just hop on the eagles back at the very beginning and be done with it all. Course, that wouldn't be a very exciting book....but it does seem to be a flaw.

Still great films and book tho. Finally got round to seeing ROTK, best one of the 3 IMO.

Any hardcore LOTR fans care to comment? :p

its all to do with the end of the hobbitt, and the fact they would probably of got shot down, if saurman was in fulll control

In the books the eagles say something like they hate carrying people, it makes them feel like beasts of burden or something...Tolkein does explain it :)

also, would have thought that sauron/the nazgul would see them from a mile away, and i doubt if even the eagles could stand up to all the nazgul, then they could just pick the ring from the bodies!
