So just curious, how many here agree with console FPS games? Hard to control? Better than PC? Personally I prefer PC Fps, considering it's tons easier to aim with the mouse rather than an analogue stick. And by the looks of how Halo 2 plays, Console FPS games are becoming pointless.

PC, no question in my mind at all. They look better, are easier to control and often due to the ability to patch/expand the game with free downloads are bigger and more stable!

Hard to control, chuggy, and unless its halo crap AI.

I think its pc for me then!

Goldeneye had a decent autoaim, and none of this fiddling around with twenty million sticks to aim marlarkie. Also it was fun, and its replay value was immense (I still play it!)

Xbox live can offer content for downloads, does regular patches on the console & games.

Played HALO 2 very good game AI is good and gfx are nice..
BUT i find that the controls are not easy to get to grips with.... im not the best FPS player (in certain games the phrase "Frag bait" Springs to mind). i do find a mouse and keyboard is better, but i more used to tht. console controls do need more practice expecially on an xbox controller which in its standard form is awful.

I remember playing Halo on a US import. I was all excited until I realised I could not hit shite due to the controller fumbling. Controllers are for kids with small dextrious fingers not for sausage fingered adults who are better off with a Keyboard and mouse.

Lol, ever seen a kid use an Xbox controller? - The way I see it, Consoles are MADE for Racing, fighting, flying games etc etc. Whereas the PC is the FPS gamers choice where the mouse is more "point and click" based, and the analogue stick is "Move to the position". As for Halo 2, I 'COULD' get practice on it. It doesn't help when you have some loser scream all the time about how they're all-so-great at Halo, and how your not allowed to play Halo due to shiteness etc. Thank the lord for the mute button :)

I quote from the Xbox manual "If the Xbox console falls on someone, especially a small child, it could cause serious injury" :P Should be "Serious injury/death" But nah, it's a good console, and Xbox live is alot better than I would have first imagined. Burnout 3 online... rules

Id like to point out that all european xboxe's are now shipped with the smaller japaneese controllers, that are about the size of a ps2 pad.

Hmm, no wonder the controllers were smaller than I thought when I got mine :S

I strongly disagree, FPS games on PC are simple click and point, and moving using 'Sawd' "It's my term for the controls". Consoles have a "Move into position with the analogue stick and maybe some help with the auto-aim" And seems it needs special engineering to get right. With the many different FPS games on consoles (Most being PC ports), only a fair few actually have good controls.

yeah but i personaly find it easier to hav ur hands r closer together with a good console controller, plus timesplitters 2 is console only (my personal favourite fps)....................or so i think

TS2 is a good fps, but it cant compare to a good old Quake, or UT2k4 deathmatch on PC. The console controls make it jerky and slow sometimes, where as PC deathmatches are fast frantic and fluid. ALso no console controller can compare to WSAD, and mouse.

Timesplitters is a good game but I had re bind most of the controls so that I could play the game. I took the template from Goldeneye for my control. I could never use a shoulder button to fire so I binded it to x as in my head it made more sense to me and by the looks of it most people tend to agree with my m8 snacks. But he did choose a bad game for a beginner and maybe he should have a look at Timesplitters and Goldeneye.

i had goldeneye as well as timeslpitters 2 and they r both easyto play on a console
if they were on pc i would not b able to get the controls easily as it would take ages to get the grip of............i would get it......but it would take time i dont want to lose

er you can plug a ps2/n64 joypad into a pc if you really can not get to grips with the wasd i use the arrow keys (noob) some people even use the num pad

im a console gamer i never use a pc to play games therefore my opinion is correct for a lot of console only gamers

BirdofPrey

They would both be piss easy on pc, I mean, wsad, instead of the analogue stick, mouse aiming, and e and r to use and reload! Console games are alot more simplified than PC game ones in terms of controlls!

but thats just u i am a rubbish fps player therefore i only get worse on the pc controls

Well I played Timesplitters 2 on GC when I had one... thought it was good, and easy to control. Plus I've played enough Goldeneye to consider it owned :) And I am slowly getting better at Halo 2... slowly.

Tbh, it's not THAT amazing.. The Matchmaking in Multiplayer is Lame, AI in Single player is bad, weapons aren't as good, whats made it so many sales is its hype.

its a shame really that xbox does'nt use its usb ports for a mouse and keyboard combo like the ps2

I agree, but there is an addon adaptor for USB keyboards, downside being it's only compatable with Keyboard enabled games "Phantasy Star Online"

the ports on the xbox are infact usb but the connector is different and has an extra pin ive made a couple of convertors for people who wanted xbox pads on pc and usb ports on xbox before. xbox pads are resonably usefull in arcadey games but otherwise theyre not for me.

I would rather use my gamecube pad on my PC, its alot less likely to give me RSI!

SGT_Snacks
11-26-2004, 06:22 PM
I guess any controller using rumble can cause RSI easily. the Saitek P2500 rumble pad would knock them all down and still run :) Such a great pad... but then again it's just a PS2 pad with some modifications.. well more comfortable...
